Typeface Design

Spring 2015

The typeface Remnant was designed for the course Type III under the instruction of John Kane at Northeastern University during the Spring 2015 semester. All of the forms were designed first in Adobe Illustrator CS6, then were migrated into TypeTool in order to export the character set into a font that could be readily used. The following pieces are A2 posters created to present the typeface in context. The inspiration for Remnant came from humanist sans-serif typefaces like Brandon Grotesque and Museo Sans and was designed, with its slightly rounded corners, to be a soft and balanced typeface, with signage and packaging design in mind.
